AUSTIN (KXAN) — High pressure is still the main weather feature dominating Central Texas weather. A few cities will reach a high of 100° or a degree or two higher later this afternoon.
Milam County is in another Heat Advisory until 8 p.m.
The chance of rain goes up as we move closer to the weekend A weak cold front begins to move into North Texas. While the front will take us out of the triple digits we see a better chance of rain from Friday night going into Saturday.
Present trends as they relate to Hurricane Beryl gives Central Texas a chance for showers and thunderstorms Monday through Wednesday. There will be a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday to a 40% chance Tuesday and Wednesday. This is subject to change.
Hurricane Beryl is a Category 4 hurricane
Hurricane Beryl winds are still at 145 mph. The hurricane continues to move to the WNW at 20 mph. It’s 7 a.m. location was SE of Kingston, Jamaica. Moderate to heavy rains are already impacting much of the island.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect on the south coast border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as the east coast of the Yucatan from Chetuman to Cabo Catoche.
After today, the next landfall is expected on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico Friday. It will move back over water Friday afternoon/evening moving from the Bay of Campeche into the southwest Gulf. The Cone of Uncertainty shows the final landfall stretching from Corpus Christi to Tampico.
